Discovering Columbus

Discover the public library in Columbus, Nebraska, in this clever film that employs animation to make its point. The creator used Adobe After Effects to create the pop-up effect.

I think this is an effective video because it was clever and comprehensive. It made a play on its name with all its connotations of exploration by inviting viewers to “explore” the library. The young actor was nonthreatening and enthusiastic. I enjoyed how the video touched on the different collections that the library owns as well as the programs it offers. It was a nice touch to include a visual of the staff, because libraries are not just repositories of stuff — they are the staff and the interactions with the community which make them special and vital. The staff did a good job on this video.
