Emotionally Exhausted Haiku

Friday HaikuWhat an exhausting week this has been! And it’s not even over; I work Saturday and Sunday. Between the depressing news coming out of Madison right now, the regression of ebook rights from HarperCollins, and local unhappiness (a patron was hit by a car while crossing the road-she’s all right; and a coworker’s mother passed away), I can only pray that next week is better. I know that the best thing for me to do is to keep working hard and pray. I will do as much as I’m able to regarding these situations, but at the end of the day, I have to let it go and relax so that I can approach it anew each day. Here are some haiku about my week.

Budget woes torment
my beloved state this month.
Please compromise soon!

HarperCollin’s greed
Punishes readers who use
public libraries.

Regular patron
Got hit while crossing the street.
I pray she’s all right.

Loss of a loved one
Causes us to sympathize;
Hurts all who love you.

And in more positive news, I received a very nice thank-you note from a couple who attended the computer classes I taught last week. It was a busy and hectic time (6 classes in 5 days), but the response to the classes and my teaching really buoy me up.

Patience and kindess
Explain more than details can.
There aren’t dumb questions.
