YA Book Covers & Color

The following infographic comes from an amazing blogger named Kate Hart. She spent a lot of time and effort compiling all this information. Sure, the graphic is pretty and all, but do you know what is even cooler? She used something so eye catching to jump start a conversation about real color in these books … Not just what is on the cover, but who the main characters are and what race and gender they represent. Bottom line is that people of color (POC) are woefully underrepresented in books for young adults. Don’t just take my work for this, go read her awesome post.
